Months ago I got a call from my good friend and photographer Jerris Madison with the news that shook me for days. He told me he wanted me on the cover of his magazine, Obvious, for their special "Model Issue". This issue will include my editorial and interview and it's especially exciting for me because its their first print issue. It's 6 covers total for this issue and its "flip" style (3 versions). I am so blessed and honored to share my flip cover with Actor Brian White and his amazing wife Paula. The other covers include 3 fresh faces, model Cavier Coleman and actor Darryl Stephens. This took weeks to prepare and many, many hands to put together. The team behind this shoot were amongst some of the most talented and professional I have ever seen since stepping into this industry a few years ago. People keep asking me, "how does it feel?" and honestly...I still have yet to feel anything beyond humbled and overwhelmed. I recognize I am blessed and lucky to be chosen. I am especially lucky to have a friend like Jerris who really saw something in me and decided to take a chance. The support and love from my family and peers have touched me deeply and I promise that I will continue to do my best to represent well. This is more than just a pretty picture to me. It's an expression of growth and change in this industry and possibly some inspiration for the young girls in the corner that need to hear and see positivity everyday. Really...this one's for you.
I can't wait for you to see the full editorial and interview when it comes out in print May 10th! To pre-order your advanced copy of the magazine please go to: www.obviousmag.com/subscribe or click on the photo below :)
