Monif C Says "My Beach Is Better"
All I know is that if you know me you KNOW I love me some Monif C. She is one of my fave plus designers in the industry and I had the pleasure of modeling for her "My Beach Is Better" swim event last week. She outdid herself and put together such a classy promotional event for bloggers to come see her new designs. She's makin' us curvy girls look delicious for the beach this summer!
Hey boo-thangs! Just wanted to share some random recent snapshots! In order from left to right: A snapshot of me and my friend Ty at Fashion Week, a snapshot of me in Matthew Cherry's new web-series Almost 30 (I learned so much while shooting it in LA!), a few shots from the Rip The Runway viewing party and the most amazing view of Times Square I thought I would never see (especially at an audition). I also wanted to add a recent shot of me in the gym this past week as some form of inspiration to anyone who needs a boost. I workout to clear my mind and to keep my heart happy (both emotionally and physically) and I think any bit helps. Just remember even a small step is a step in the right direction. Happy March loves! (no more Mercury retrograde until June-PHEW!)
feb/march 2013 recap
Hello beautiful people! I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to update the blog! I tend to default to my Instagram (which I LOVE and you can follow me at: MsTiffanyBank), Facebook and Twitter so please pardon my delay on the updates!! Where do I start? Fashion Week is a good place to start!
I came back from LA just in time to attend New York Fashion Week and I got the opportunity to sit front row in a few awesome shows that included some friends of mine who modeled in them! I even got to see my girl Lil Kim work the runway and model icon Janice Dickinson! One of these days Ill get to strut on a NYFW runway! I'm claiming it! Maybe it will happen in September?? ;)
my volup2 magazine editorial
Sooo if you read any interview of mine during my time on BIG SEXY you'll know that my biggest inspiration to start modeling was my friend/mentor Velvet D'Amour. If it weren't for her I'm not sure I would have had the confidence to even contemplate modeling. Over the course of 6 years she's stood by my side and has been a shoulder to lean on when I needed support. This past September I was able to go to Paris to shoot with her for her own magazine, Volup2! She shot the editorial and it definitely was a full-circle moment for me in my career. I'm so thankful for the opporutnity and couldn't believe I was able to actually model for Velvet herself 6 years later. Isn't that amazing? I can't show you the full editorial but here are a couple snapshots! I hope you love. It debuted on Valentines Day which was the perfect way to celebrate the holiday for me. ;) To purchase your copy please visit the site here.
back at columbia!
I'm just one of those lucky girls who got a dream opportunity to speak at Columiba University last year and then got asked to speak again this year for their Body Wellness Week at Barnard College, Columbia's women's college. According to the women's wellness department it was the most attended event of their Body Wellness week and was well-received by the students. What was even more amazing is that a couple alumni from my talk last year showed up along with friends and a few Instagram supporters of mine. It truly was a magical night filled with deep conversation about body image, sexuality, the fashion industry and, of course, it was filled with lots of laughs. Thank you Barnard for having me back!
bet's rip the runway
How cool is it that BET asked me back to model for them for their yearly runway show, Rip The Runway, which merges fashion with music?! I was super stoked to be casted and got to work with some AMAZING models and friends yet again this year. It's always a fun time backstage at Rip The Runway and I got the chance to get interviewed by Atlanta Housewife Kenya Moore (watch it here). I also got to model a wrap dress by Igigi and walk alongside yummy R&B artist Omarion! The hosts this year, Kelly Rowland and Boris Kodjoe, did an awesome job! If you missed me rip the runway with my Size Sexy girls you can check it out by clicking the photo below!

It's been an awesome couple month's and I'm just getting started! I can't wait to see what else is in store for 2013 and I'm so ready for the journey! Thank you again for all your amazing support and love!!!
hi from la-la land!
Hi loves! I hope that your new year is going grand! I just wanted to give you an update on what I've been up to here in Los Angeles! Its been such a great trip! I got to reunite with my LA loves at The Curvy Fashionista's Blog Anniversary Party which was SO much fun. The whole night was super glam and I'm so glad I got to catch up with my LA loves and my west coast Plus Model Magazine team!
Last week I hosted the launch of Curvy Girls Who Brunch in LA, a brunch series started by my friend and LA publicist Lana Leazer, sponsored by my fave plus lingerie line Hips and Curves! Over 40 curvy girls showed up to the event, including my girl Chenese Lewis, blogger/stylist Marcy Guevara, my plus model gals Danielle Line and Michelle Renee! The day was beautiful and it gave the plus community a space to network, ask questions, get connected and unwind! I even got to meet some of my BIG SEXY fans! Keep checking the Curvy Girls Who Brunch fan page to see when and where the next event will be!
And just yesterday I shot with Sealed With A Kiss Designs Boutique for their upcoming Spring catalog! I love their line because they have comfortable basics that you can dress up or down and they fit really well! I can't wait for you to see the final product!
So far, this trip has been quite the success and I'm so looking forward to what 2013 has up it's sleeves. I appreciate every moment of these experiences and I honestly can't tell you how much fun it is to do what you love. Keep going loves...the dream is real!
2012 warm fuzzies
This year was, without a doubt, a year FULL of gifts (triumphs, challenges, lessons, and all). I wanted to share some of my top fave moments of 2012. It was, indeed, a blessed one. My 2012 Highlights include:
Modeling Monif C. Designs for BET's Rip The Runway with the yummy Robin Thicke, filming NBC's 30 Rock, speaking at Barnard College in addition to signing on as a consultant for Columbia University, and hosting an event at Alex & Ani in Soho, NYC...
Joining a panel for New Jersey Full-Figured Fashion Week, landing my first ever print cover including a 7-page editorial for the Beaute Book magazine, shooting a beautiful campaign for My Girlfriends Closet Boutique with recording artist Briana Collette, radio personality Angela Yee, psychologist Dr. Robi Ludwig and international model Carissa Rosario, and being chosen as Vibe Magazine's Vibe Vixen...
Shooting an editorial for Pose Magazine, being honored in Plus Model Magazines IAMPlus feature, shooting a campaign for 2013 with my 2 best girls, shooting my promo video for my site, booking my 2nd My Girlfriend's Closet Boutique campaign and being the first ever plus size model featured in Kontrol Magazine (currently at Barnes&Noble)...
Having the pleasure of shooting with some of my fave dream photographers including Allen Cooley, Toni Smailagic, Dallas Logan, Inez Lewis, and Gregory Prescott...
My travels! I went to London and attended London Fashion Week, went to Paris and shot an editorial with my mentor Velvet D'Amour, saw good friends and family in Belgium and took a special solo trip to Barcelona...
Overall, the places I was able to see, the people I was able to meet and spend it with, the special events I was able to attend and celebrating 6 years in NYC pursuing my dreams has been the highlight. I run so fast that I rarely stop myself to look at where I've been and I'm so thankful at the opportunities I've received. I'm looking forward to what 2013 has in store for all of us. I'm one day stronger and my heart and mind are open to the journey ahead. Wishing you a safe, happy and healthy year...let go and let God. xo
Hiiiiii babyloves! I hope all is well with all of you. I just got back into town and wanted to share some pics from my adventures this past month!
Before heading out to Atlantic City for my mini vacay I stopped in to give my friend Roble hugs and love for his birthday (so fun!). I rocked my Monif C. convertible dress aka my new favorite thing in my closet. I feel like when Monif went to design that dress she had me (and my booty) in mind! lol LOVED it :)
Me and the homie! Model William Kortney
Happy birthday Roble!
To AC we go! I got to see Beyonce live at the GORGEOUS new Revel Resort grand opening in Atlantic City (special hugs to my sweet friends Asa and Robert). I had front row seats to see Bey (I know..cray) and, let me tell you, the energy was NUTS! Luke James, who was the opening act, sounded smooth like butter too ;)
Everyone and their mama came out to see her but I tell you my heart stopped for about 2 seconds when Michelle Obama walked in with her girls. The only person that could take my attention away from Beyonce was our FLOTUS and it was so fun to watch them dance and sing every song. They had a blast! The whole show was amazing, aesthetically very pleasing and Beyonce worked her butt off. The voice? Incredible. I paid attention to every detail: the dancers, the choreography, the lighting, the production, etc...and I loved it. Kudos to Bey and her team!! Check out the photos I took:
Me and one of Beyonce's dancers (Larry, one half of Les Twins)
see! twins! double the fun!
He was amazing and delicious.
(who bends like that in real life?)
I also finally got the chance to rock my new pin-up style ModCloth bikini poolside at Revel ;) I loved the way it fit my booty and, well, who doesn't love cherries?? ;) And since we are on the topic of bikini's I wanted take the time to urge you plus gals to rock whatever it is you desire to rock at the pool/beach this summer. No coverups! We only get one life to live so don't waste your time worrying about what anyone else has to say. Do what makes you happy honey! I absolutely wanted to share this awesome post by my good friend Gabi Fresh: Fatkini 2012. I love her for showing off what her mama gave her and giving women the confidence to wear bikini's this summer and in style! Please follow her blog. She offers amazing fashion tips and, well, she's hot.
After AC I jetted off to LA and did a shoot with the ever so lovely Inez Lewis. Fellow plus model Danielle Line joined me on set and my girl Reah Norman was there to help with her styling expertise! (Go team PLUS!)
I also got to see my baby brother graduate high school which was the highlight of my trip. And no big deal but my brother absolutely did the dougie right after he accepted his diploma on stage. That's my baby! lol
I also wanted to share a couple more pics I took behind the scenes at my Kontrol Magazine shoot (which comes out in August). Check out the shoessss honey! Special shout-out to Cynthia and Chris for their help!
I hope you enjoyed the pics loves! Please don't forget to follow me on twitter (@tiffanybank) and tweet me pics of your summer adventures! You can also like my fan page: facebook.com/tiffanybank I ALWAYS love hearing from you!!! Sending love and light :) xo Tiff
Hey sugar loves! I hope all of you are smiling and enjoying today. SO much has been going on the past month and I had to update you with the latest. I shot an episode of 30 ROCK with Sherri Shepherd, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey. It was SUCH an amazing experience to watch the pros in action. I learned a lot being on set with the all-star cast. I did a super funny scene with Sherri but unfortunately it got cut. The experience was awesome and I'm so glad I get to say I was a part of it. I also got to check out the off-Broadway show Fuerza Bruta (which I had seen twice before) with Usher! (shout-out to my girl Cat Peoples for the hook-up!) It was a great way to promote his new album and he did a great job!! It's hard to explain his character in the show but lets just say it invloves lots of running, flying and rain. Ya, I know.
I've also been busy with photoshoots and have a few new fun things to show you this summer! I recently got back from Atlanta and excited to share the editorial I shot which comes out in August. I've been meeting and working with such amazing people that I admire in the industry and feel super blessed to be having all this fun.
And p.s. I had the opportunity to go to my first ever basketball game a week or so ago and it just so happened to be a playoffs game between the Miami Heat and the NY Knicks. I also took a pretty cool shot of Lebron himself :) Words can't express how cool it was! And, you know, being that close to the basketball players was totes fine with me ;) p.p.s. Kanye West and I may or may not have locked eyes a few times but that's a different story for a different day ;)
A very special shout-out to everyone in Germany who got to watch BIG SEXY for the first time. I'm getting lots of fan mail and I so appreciate the support!
I feel like sometimes my life is a movie and I'm so enjoying the ride. I wanted to share a few snapshots from the past month including the game, behind-the-scenes shots of my shoots, people I've met, 30 ROCK, my trip to Atlanta and the collage from PLUS Model Magazine that my mom and I are in.
Love you boos. Take good care of you.
Hi babyloves. I just got back from Atlantic City where I attended New Jersey Full-Figured Fashion Week and can I tell you...I did not want to leave!!! It was such a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, hang out with my model girls and make new connections! The models and fashions were gorgeous this year and celebrity stylist Susan Moses DID HER THING! We were treated to 2 parties after the fashion events with performances by Melanie Fiona, Musiq Soulchild, Eric Benet and Miguel. I did not get a chance to see Melanie Fiona (sadface) but Musiq, Eric and Miguel were amazeballs and I so loved hearing them up close and live. It was sort of like a private concert for all of us and I was thrilled. In addition to all the festivities I was asked to judge the model search with host Toccara from America's Next Top Model. Cutie Lamman Rucker was also there to share hosting duties and the judging panel with me. He was definitely the fan favorite along with yummy actor/choreographer Darrin Henson (Stomp The Yard) who MC'd and hosted a few of the weekends' events. Probably one of my favorite things about this weekend was being able to meet some of my BIG SEXY fans and connecting with them. I was honored by all the love they showed for me and the stories they shared with me about what the show meant for them. True Love. It was the perfect getaway and an experience I will truly never forget. I love my life :)
Barnard Welcomes Me With Open Arms
Being glammed up and fabulolus is fun...don't get me wrong. But I'm the happiest when I get opportunities to connect with young women and share my experiences with the intention of inspiring anyone who needs it. Speaking at Barnard College was a dream come true for me. The evening started with me speaking about my background and what I struggled with as an aspiring model and plus-size woman in a skinny girl society. The evening ended with the girls asking me to show them how to runway and let me tell you that was FUN. My overall goal with any work that I do is to be someone that younger girls and women can look up to and represent in a positive and realistic light. Thank you, Barnard College, for letting me share.
Atlantic City Here I Come!
Hi sugarpies! I'm thrilled to announce that I will be a guest judge during New Jersey Full Figured Fashion Week's model search with Toccara from America's Next Top Model. It's a weekend full of star-studded yummyness including performances by Eric Benet, Miguel, Melanie Fiona and more! There is also a host of great events like fashion shows, panels and expo's catered specifically for the curvy chicks. How awesome is that?! I hope to meet some of you there! It's going to be a blast :) xoxo
